Well,

Connecticut Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal did at least as good a job as Dan Quayle or George Bush. Maybe better than Bush since he didn't go AWOL.

When you say you served in Vietnam, it does not mean during that "era", you should say "during Vietnam". I suppose a lot of World War II vets probably did this sort of loose claim of service.

It's laziness -- oh, and douchey. But not on the scale of being a chicken-hawk and starting wars and running them based on some movie or television show you saw after your five deferments like say, Darth Cheney.

Appears ol' Richard Blumenthat ought to fit right in with all the other members of Congress, he's got the lying and misdirection down pat. What is needed now is truth in labeling, including ingredients and adulterations to facts. Caveat emptor! Votante emptor!

Screw him. I served on active duty in 1970-73, "during" Vietnam, in an Army infantry division that had duties in the U.S. and Germany. I would NEVER say "in" Vietnam. Just not done.

The bad part is that the seat will go to a Repuke. Reminds me of John Edwards. Can you imagine how this would have played out if this was revealed after the election?

Dan Quayle used to call himself a "Vietnam-era veteran."

did reagan get this kind of treatment for having helped liberate buchenwald?

Look at Max Cleland and think he served in Vietnam, and the Rethug Chambliss has become a leading light in the darkness of conservatism.
Good men who served In and During won't use this as a wedge to ruin a good candidate.

That's odd, because Bush didn't go AWOL, either.
But maybe if repeat your false accusations often enough or if you wish a little harder it just might come true for ya.
Maybe you could get together with Dan Rather and forge some really kewl documents or sumptin' ...?

Until the day (or night) that I can host a bukkake party on the forehead of Bush on Mt. Rushmore, my life will be incomplete.
