Impeach Lincoln!

The Republicans are taking their Texas School Board approved history to ever lamer heights.

"Obama's in bed with the Oil Industry", says Sarah "Drill-Baby-Drill" Palin, who apparently doesn't appreciate other politicians getting, at best, sloppy seconds.

And now, self-described not crazy Republican (damning self-praise) Darrell Issa thinks it's always criminal to offer politicians political jobs, so they don't run against you or your guy. In which case Mr. Issa better get out a bill to take down the Lincoln Memorial.

Because in the Summer of 1864 to secure his renomination and placate the left-wing of the Republican Party (hard to believe there was such a time) Lincoln dangled the name of his former Treasury Secretary and major nomination challenger Salmon Chase as being a good replacement for dying Chief Justice Roger B. Taney. Shortly after reelection he did so. Quid pro Quo ladies and gentlemen.

So, Mr. Issa, when are you going to move to take down that memorial?

I've always known what you'll find at the Texas School Book Depository.

Lincoln ... I also heard he was against States Rights AND he levied the first federal income tax. Just another bleeding-heart, tax and spend liberal looking to bloat the government - also, too!

funny how clintonistas are involved when shady deals are made or attempted. though this one barely merits mentioning.

it's this deal that made me angry:

[max] Cleland was originally appointed to serve on the 9/11 Commission but resigned shortly after, having been appointed to the Board of directors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Prior to his resignation, he claimed that the Bush administration was "stonewalling" and blocking the committee's access to key documents and witnesses.

max was raising all kinds of hell attacking bush when precious few public figures had the balls to question his handling of 9/11. all of a sudden, after he was offered this six figure a year job, max turned into a quiet little church mouse.

nobody in media raised a fuss or questioned bush about this corrupt, ass covering, quid pro quo.

i was thinking more of tarp. loads of money shoveled at wall street with no strings attached. think of all the reforms on the industry we could have included and forced them to abide by in exchange for the money.

but obama, counseled by old clinton hands, didn't want to be "ideological" and actually argued against insisting on preconditions before giving the money.
