Democracy on Parade

Today's the day that we pat ourselves on the back for our open society that trusts its citizenry enough to watch the guy who has been in charge of data mining step before the Senate and explain himself.

Of course, that will all happen in closed session that we are not allowed to see or read news reports about.

But at least we'll get to make jokes about how bald he is and how he gives George Bush a hard-on. Then it will be time to talk about Paul McCartney NOT having a pre-nup and the DaVinci Code some more (Opus Dayum!). Because THAT is what being an American is all about -- meaningless tripe about old british singers and fictional books.

"Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner yet way-ay-ave,

O'er the Land of the platitudinously free,

and the home of the afraid."
